MEET THE TEAM SERIES | TU TRAN

Resuming our Meet the Team Series, we have a chat to one of team from the BI WORLDWIDE family.

This week, we talked with Tu Tran, talented Program Success Manager and resident foodie on our BI WORLDWIDE Australia team. With a passion for fine food, outdoor adventures, and living sustainably, we dove in to see what has made Tu such an incredible asset to the team.

After joining BI WORLDWIDE in 2011 on our events team, Tu is focusing her skills and holistic knowledge of participant engagement on the performance improvement arm of the business. Tu has excellent program and project management skills with a keen eye for detail and creativity to match. Perfect blend of an analytical and creative mind!

So Tu, how long have you been at Veritas Events/BI WORLDWIDE and how would you describe your role?

I joined the events team at BI WORLDWIDE as a fresh-faced uni student in 2011. Since then, I enjoyed a career in events for the better part of a decade before transitioning into performance improvement and employee engagement.

As a Program Success Manager, i help clients identify opportunities and implement objective-aligned strategies to engage and reward employees, salespeople, and channel partners.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love that no two days are the same and that we’re regularly investigating and delivering program improvements.

What inspired you get into a career at BI WORLDWIDE?

What drew me to apply for a position at BI WORLDWIDE 11 years ago, was the impression that it was an inspiring place to work. Even to this day, I believe that we are determined to deliver on this premise.

What is your greatest client event/achievement?

Running my first solo overseas incentive trip would have to be high on the list. From start to finish there were challenges in creating the optimum participant experience and to have pulled it off despite some surprises was an achievement. To top it off, the feedback post trip couldn’t have been better!

What’s your passion outside of work?

I love food! My mum was a phenomenal cook and imparted me with all the taste, but none of the talent for cooking complex dishes. So, I compensate by trying new restaurants on the regular.

If you had to put a warning sign on your chest to others, what would it say?

Functions only with the addition of coffee!

Favourite…
  • Book – Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time – Mark Haddon
We studied this book in high school and it has just stuck with me ever since
  • Movie – Wizard of Oz
Ground-breaking visual effects for its time and I can still remember the first time I saw it as a child
  • Song – Wolf Like Me – TV on the Radio
I love the energy and pace of this song, it always lifts my mood
Favourite thing about BI WORLDWIDE and Veritas Events

It’s always been clear at BI WORLDWIDE and Veritas Events that everyone’s ideas and opinions matter and that we have opportunities to continuously develop and learn. This results in us having very talented passionate people within the business who produce and deliver great programs.

What was your first job?

My first job was at Hoyts Cinemas when I was 15. It was a job that involved autonomy as well as working cohesively as a team. I eventually became a supervisor and was involved in training and managing a team.

It was a really rounded work experience and I am so appreciative of the skills if afforded me at a young age.

Of course, there was also the benefit of having access to free/cheap movie tickets! To this day, I still believe there is not better way to see a movie than at the cinemas with a box of popcorn and a choc top.

What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?

I got for a walk with my dog every day after work. It helps me disconnect and get some fresh air!

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

Honest, determined, caring

Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?

Organising a pantry, cupboard, or car boot. If you need it all to fit, I’ll tetris it in.

And of course, we have to ask…Favourite restaurant?

Maha in Melbourne CBD – great family-style shared dining and impeccable service.

There is this also this one Vietnamese restaurant in Footscray/Melbourne that do a grilled chicken broken rice dish that I love. I get it every time I go there, and it has not disappointed!
