Destination Spotlight: Marrakech, Morocco

What it really offers incentive and corporate groups

We recently spent six days on the ground in Marrakech on a famil trip, with one clear aim: to understand how this destination genuinely performs for incentive travel. What we found is a city that rewards curiosity. It’s colourful, cultural and adventurous, with an incredible depth of experiences when planned thoughtfully.

Why this destination works

Marrakech delivers something many destinations promise but few truly achieve: a sense of immersion. From the moment guests arrive, they’re surrounded by colour, texture and energy. The hospitality is exceptional, the venues are visually striking, and the overall experience feels completely different to more familiar incentive destinations. For groups looking to create lasting memories rather than ticking boxes, Marrakech makes a strong case.

Standout hotels and venues

The White Camel Lodge & Tents

  • Best suited to: Incentive buy-outs and unique off-site experiences
  • Standout: A calm, dream-like desert landscape
  • Event spaces: Private tented banquets for up to 200 guests
  • Plan around: Cold evenings and limited on-site infrastructure

Our take:
Breathtaking on arrival and completely unique. The remote location creates magic, but it comes with trade-offs, including simpler amenities and dining compared to city-based five-star hotels.

Park Hyatt Marrakech

  • Best suited to: Executive incentives and smaller premium groups
  • Standout: High-end design and a sense of newness, having opened recently
  • Event spaces: Poolside receptions in a beautiful setting
  • Plan around: Meeting room capacity, with the largest space holding around 60 guests theatre-style

Our take:
A hotel we would happily return to time and time again. Polished, calm and refined, with excellent wellness facilities and a strong sense of place.

Four Seasons Resort Marrakech

  • Best suited to: Larger incentive groups and conferences
  • Standout: Expansive grounds with water features and fountains
  • Event spaces: Zest Rooftop Bar and Le Grand Jardin courtyard, suitable for banquets up to 300 guests
  • Plan around: The size of the property, with buggies required for longer distances

Our take:
Ideally located close to the airport and city. While highly functional, some areas would benefit from refurbishment given the hotel’s age.

Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech

  • Best suited to: Incentives and leisure-led programs
  • Standout: Gardens, golf course views and a relaxed resort feel
  • Event spaces: Courtyards, terraces, and a variety of restaurants and bars

Our take:
A resort designed for slowing down. With extensive dining, leisure and wellness options, guests can easily settle in and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.

Experiences that elevate the program

Marrakech truly shines through its experiences. Sunrise hot air balloon flights over the Atlas Mountains, quad biking and buggies across sand dunes, hands-on cooking classes, and camel rides into the sunset with cocktails waiting at the end all felt tailor-made for incentive groups.

Cultural highlights like wandering the souks in the old Medina, visiting the Bahia Palace and exploring Medersa Ben Youssef add depth and authenticity that guests remember long after they return home. The colours, sounds and flavours of the city are impossible to forget.

Practical planning insights

What we’d change next time: Fewer activities and more time to enjoy hotel facilities

Ideal group size: Up to 50 guests

Best time of year: Spring and autumn for comfortable temperatures, with winter offering attractive rates

Key planning focus: Transport, timing and event flow. Traffic during peak hours can be unpredictable, so careful scheduling is essential

Our honest take

Marrakech over-delivers on hospitality. From tea ceremonies and local pastries to generous banquets, guests are consistently made to feel welcome. It’s a destination that blends deep cultural immersion with high-end venues, but it rewards those who plan with intention.

For clients seeking a true sense of discovery and something completely different, Marrakech is a standout option. Expectations simply need to be set around cultural differences and the realities of navigating a busy, vibrant city.
