Sometimes there is no place like an event at home

I often question the value of shuttling people out to far flung places without due consideration being given to why we are taking our event or incentive here in the first place? There is a huge expense in flights for events and incentives up to 40% and for your event or incentive there is little value in just sitting at an airport. For your next event perhaps consider your own home state or city. This is where a good meetings manager comes in (like...you guessed it...Veritas Event Management!). A good meetings manager will sit with you and wont be afraid to critique your idea as to why your event or incentive just has to go to Melbourne when perhaps 80% of your people are from Sydney. The WOW factor for your meeting event or incentive is in what you do and, to a degree, where you stay. Keep the key rule of any event and provide your delegates with an event or incentive they would not buy themselves. If you are going to stay at home, for example, and hold your event in Sydney then really drill down what Sydney has to offer. Far from worrying about the event location give the Sydney people an event experience they would not normally get from being a local thats the event challenge. Why not get Veritas Event Management to challenge your next event idea? Contact Kieran Kennedy today on 0402 245 010 or Kieran.kennedy@veritas.com.au

Events in Space?

The last month has been full of new stories and events that have rekindled our fondness for space and the unknown. It started with NASA landing its rover on Mars, exploring the red planet and just this week was amplified again, with Felix Baumgartner jumping from the edge of space and breaking the sound barrier. These two events have helped re-capture the imagination of children and adults alike, with many relating it right back to when man first walked on the moon. NASA has already stated that they would like to be able to send a human expedition to the red planet by 2030, and of course we are all aware of companies like Virgin who are already selling tickets to huge launch events and trips into space. It makes you start thinking, that maybe, if not in this lifetime, then in our childrens, we will have hotels no longer fixed to this planet. We might have the ability to send high-end corporate trips into space, the moon and beyond at a price that is affordable and well within reason of any marketing department. It is a stage thought to think about holding your events in space, but I know that one day, in the not too distant future, it will become a reality.
