Noosa - great hotels, shame about the Council

I love delivering events in Noosa. For corporate events, the venues and restaurants are excellent. The Council unfortunately are stuck in the past - there are few external venues where you can take an event for an offsite gala dinner. Reason being is that the Council are so lacking in understanding as to MICE events and what our requirements are. Its a shame and Noosa has to compete with some really event-focussed destinations such as Port Douglas and The Gold Coast. Time for the Mayor of Noosa to put his thinking cap on and allow some suppliers to provide some offsite facilities for events!

Be Bold, but have a Back-Up

Last week Veritas managed a medical conference in Noosa. When we were planning the conference some months ago, we were faced with the usual dilemma of offering our clients a unique conference dining experience... as we always say, "something they cant buy themselves". We decided to hold a dinner on the beach strip in front of the Noosa surf club. Its a busy area and most people probably wouldnt choose this spot for a banquet... it was somewhat of a bold decision. But what a banquet it was! 100 guests seated at one long table... a beautiful night and a magnificent location. And something they couldnt do on their own. But of course we had to have a back-up. As one of the most experienced corporate events companies in Australia, we dont take any risks at Veritas, so naturally we were prepared with a back-up location on standby. We may be Bold, but were always prepared for any eventuality. We were assisted by the terrific team at Sheraton Noosa who provided the catering. This type of dinner is what sets Veritas apart from our competitors... its our drive and commitment to deliver unique experiences like this that keep our clients coming back time and again... so be Bold to be better.

Whatever your corporate message is... say it with sugar!

There are many purveyors of all things sweet that can custom-make yummy goodies that your clients and/or delegates will savour and remember! This week I received an email from a clever company that is using everyones favourite sweet treat in a very different way! Chocogram is a Sydney based company that personalises and hand delivers chocolates for the corporate world. Chocogram can work with you to produce fine Belgium Chocolates printed with your event or corporate logo, or even lettered chocolate that can be used to spell out a bespoke message to the recipient. A candy company called Sticky is making personalised rock candy. Logos are actually worked into the centre of the candy - now how clever is that! Sticky will also custom-make lollypops and other sweets in your corporate colours and wrap them in logo-emblazoned boxes and bags. Logo Cupcakes are a great item to have at a conference break such as morning or afternoon tea. There are many companies across Sydney that are doing this, one of my favourites is Cupcakes by Design A very unique idea is custom-made fortune cookies. Rather than an abstract message from Confucius, the recipient cracks open their cookie and receives a special message from your company such as Thank you for all of your hard work in 2010 or The future at INSERT COMPANY NAME looks bright. What a fantastic and memorable surprise! http://www.fortunecookies.com.au/ If you would like Veritas to organise any of the above sweet surprises at your next conference, exhibition or function please give us a call.

The gift of giving

Health is one of those things that we all take for granted. Some of us are so lucky that we pass through life without the slightest hiccup, not even thinking twice about how fortunate we really are. Sometimes we are given the opportunity to assist the less fortunate which can be rewarding for all concerned. This year, two team members from Veritas participated in the annual City2Surf, giving all of their donations to the Guide Dogs Association. By being able to get through the 14kms, we were able to give back to their chosen charity meanwhile feeling like a part of the community. Another way of contributing to your favourite charity is by choosing to donate through salary sacrificing. I believe that this is a very underrated way of giving back to a cause you believe in, and that more businesses should take this under their wing and promote it to their staff. Why not involve your favourite charity in your next corporate event? Perhaps involving them as a keynote speaker or a sub theme? Its worth a thought...

Casa Fuster - recommended hotel in Barcelona

Casa Fuster is a beautiful hotel in central Barcelona where a scene from the movie Vicky Kristina Barcelona was filmed. I was in Barcelona attending EIBTM and took some time out to increase my knowledge of the handful of really good Spanish Hotels. As an event manager based in Sydney, I thought Casa Fuster was the best of them. It was a home of a wealthy Spanish family and is now one of the iconic hotels of Barcelona. Every room is different and reeks of history. I met the General Manager Cesar Royo Gascon, an impressive person with a good feel for events.
