Sofitel, Queenstown

The last time I was at the Sofitel, Queenstown, was for an event inspection about five years ago. Then I found the foyer dark and dreary. The change since then has been astounding. Classical Sofitel is how I can describe The Sofitel Queenstown. It reminded me of the Sofitel Hanoi, it was not an accident. There is an unsurprising and unmistakable French feel and verve to the foyer possessing a charm that evokes a sense of welcome in you. Like walking into a large chateau you are met at the door as your eye is carried to the chic Christian Dior inspired reception area and on and around to a very French style cafe. Your event or incentive delegate will feel invited and welcomed. There is a prettiness and efficiency to the Sofitel Queenstown. The rooms (82 in all) are exquisite and spacious. The location is central and it is without doubt the premier hotel in Queenstown for incentives and smaller events. If you have an event group of over 60 people you will find the average room rate may be at the premium end. The event meeting rooms are small but in ratio to the number of hotel rooms. The extra touches for your delegates are easily achievable, working with well trained and motivated staff, such as having a hot bath at the ready when your incentive checks in very clever, very Sofitel. Consider it for your next event or incentive to Queenstown. Should you wish to consider Queenstown please speak to Veritas Events, we have held several events and incentives there and have a rich experience and understanding of the area. Veritas has just come back from a week-long conference in the picturesque Hunter Valley. Although the weather was terrible, the event was deemed a huge success! The Hunter Valley is one of my favourite event destinations - just 2 hours from the Sydney CBD but so far removed from the city hustle and bustle, it really allows for a relaxing fun-filled event. Hunter Valley has a lot to offer conference groups. There are plenty of suitable conference venues, luxury and boutique accommodation, adventure team building activities and tours and a host of wonderful offsite dinner venues. We held this conference at Cypress Lakes (www.cypresslakes.com.au) and Golden Door Elysia Retreat (www.goldendoor.com.au). A few of the highlights of last weeks event included a wine blending and marketing team activity which educated the delegates about winemaking and tasting, as well as being a enjoyable team building exercise. Another highlight was the offsite gala dinner that took place at the Great Cask Hall at Hope Estate winery (www.hopeestate.com)- a wow factor venue that will never fail to impress. Consider the Hunter Valley for your next corporate meeting or incentive program - just make sure you leave enough room in your suitcase for a couple of souvenir bottles of vino!

Review of meeting venue - Peppers The Sands Torquay

We recently took a group of 80 pax to Peppers The Sands Torquay. As the hotel only has 102 accommodation rooms, the hotel was perfect to have exclusively for our delegates for two days and two nights. The accommodation rooms include 2 disabled rooms and 14 suites with the balance in standard accommodation rooms, all with external views and balconies. The conference room splits into three, but we chose to use two thirds for the plenary meeting, splitting it into two separate spaces for breakout sessions between morning tea and lunch, and then have the final third for breaks. If you have a larger number of delegates, there is ample room to host breaks in the existing pre-function space and terrace areas. The restaurant is a simple contemporary space perfect for a welcome function and the golf course, spa and gym are perfect for after conference hours activities. If any event manager is looking for a regional conference venueless than 2 hours out of Melbourne, I would highly recommend Peppers The Sands Torquay not only for its facilities, but also for its outstanding service. The pre-event contacts and onsite contacts are far above what any one would expect in a 4 1/2 star regional property! Very friendly, flexible and efficient.
