Bringing new meaning to under-the-sea themes

Ithaa, which means mother of pearl in Dhivehi, is a mostly acrylic underwater restaurant secured five metres below sea level at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island in Rangalifinolhu, Maldives. The five-by-nine metre restaurant has a capacity of 14 people meaning that whilst it may not fit every event, it is perfect for that small intimate incentive trip or executive dinner, and is encased in R-Cast acrylic which is a transparent acrylic roof offering a 180 panoramic view. The restaurant was designed and constructed by M.J. Murphy Ltd, a design consultancy based in New Zealand, and was opened on April 15 2005. Food served in the restaurant has evolved over the years and is now best described as contemporary European with Asian influences. Ithaas entrance is a spiral staircase in a thatched pavilion at the end of a jetty. The tsunami which followed the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake topped out at 0.31m below the staircase entrance, and caused no damage to the restaurant. If you want to book our Ithaa for your next European incentive trip or event, contact Kieran Kennedy of Veritas on kieran.kennedy@veritas.com.au

The Al Maha, Dubai

Here at Veritas Event Management Sydney, we often come across some truly unique event opportunities. Recently, one of these amazing event opportunities was the Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa. The Al Maha is ideal for an incentive trip, whether you are staying in Dubai for one or two weeks, or for one or two nights as a stopover destination before travelling on to Europe. This resort is part of the Luxury Collection and is every bit as luxurious as you would expect. Located just outside Dubai, the resort sits in a desert and wildlife conservation park, so it is not uncommon to have wild fauna on the grounds of the resort. There are plenty of activities on offer such as desert safari, archery, camel riding and falconry, which can all be used as part of a team building event. Those who would prefer not to absorb the blistering heat are also able to use their own private pools in each room. The Al Maha provides incomparable luxury and is waiting for your next corporate event.
