Contemporary events will have a new home Harbourside

In the final stages of refurbishment the Harbourside and Quayside rooms at the Museum of Contemporary Art otherwise known as the MCA, will certainly be crowd pleasers when completed.

The two venues boast an elegant setting for any event with their wood flooring, panelled ceiling and of course multiple angle harbour views. The venues are expected to re-open in March 2012.

Fresh Catering has now joined the team at MCA to provide the finest food, beverage and service. One of our clients is already excited about using the Harbourside Room for a gala dinner in 2012.

For any enquiries for this great Sydney venue, please contact us so we can introduce you to our unique Veritas event experiences.

Business Events continue to gain momentum in Christchurch

Veritas is currently searching for venues for a client meeting and Christchurch is in the mix. Despite the challenges Christchurch has faced over the last few months, it seems that business events continue to place MICE requirements into the venues located in the safe zone. This can only be positive for our fellow industry colleagues and the Christchurch & Canterbury Convention Bureau. One venue that combines location and modern facilities is The George, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and an ideal conference venue for up to 150 delegates. For the momentum to continue, we all have to provide our support where possible so let us know if we can assist with a great itinerary and conference program into Christchurch, the Garden City.

Ouzo and Delicious Food - A Hellenic Combination

Melbourne is such an epicurean heaven for meetings and events. I can highly recommend Hellenic Republic as the perfect place for a lunch time work session or a relaxed pre-conference dinner. Located in Melbournes eclectic Brunswick East, it is a sophisticated restaurant will delight with high quality food and transports you gracefully to Greece definitely no tackiness here. Groups of up to 120 guests can be comfortably accommodated for a sit-down lunch or dinner where guests will be treated to a traditional Greek menu by friendly staff. The lavish blue and white Spartan mosaic table is the perfect space for a spread of delicious Hellenic Republic mezethes for up to 18 guests. Head Chef Travis McAuley and his Team welcome meetings, special events, product launches and weekday buyouts with glorious food and the highlight for me refined Ouzo.

Let's play dress up!

Fancy dress parties help to breakdown social barriers, create a relaxing atmosphere and allow delegates to really be themselves (or in some cases someone else!) At the conferences we deliver, Veritas often create and organise a costumed evening for a Welcome reception, Gala Dinner or Cocktail function and I would like to share some of my favourite fancy dress themes with you: Masquerade The Masquerade ball is a fun and frivolous theme, allowing the delegates to come incognito in flamboyant costume and creative masks. There is the option for us to send a mask to each delegate pre-event or if your delegates are staying in-house, to room drop a mask the day of the event. A fun activity is to have them create their own with a prize as an incentive. 80's Legwarmers, power suits, Mr. T, The A Team, BMX bikes, Boy George, Cindy Lauper, Pac Man, The Lost Boys, Cabbage Patch Kids do these mean anything to you? If the answer is yes chances are you lived through the 80s. This theme lends itself to over the top and out of control outfits and hairdos! Superheroes Delegates are notified of the theme prior to the event and are asked to come dressed as their favourite hero or villain, and/or create their own super identity. The standout costumes will be invited onto the stage where they will divulge their special powers to the crowd. Castaways Perfect for an outdoor beach location, your company has been shipwrecked on the shores of your conference destination. Delegates come in nautical costumes - sailors, pirates, Gilligan's island and so on. Always a fun and unique evening. Rescue Me! - Delegates dress up as the rescuer of their choice - Policeman, Nurse, Fireman and so on.A search party followed by a spotlight, scouts the audience for the most creative costume. The fancy dress party themes are endless, choose one of my favourites or have Veritas create a new theme for your next corporate function.
